All the tips for beautiful skin during the holidays (or in the evening)

All the tips for beautiful skin during the holidays (or in the evening)

Coralie Techer

When the end-of-year celebrations come around, we always think first and foremost about the flashy outfit we're going to wear, without necessarily paying attention to... our skin! However, it too is getting ready to experience a very special moment. How can you prepare your skin for the holidays (also valid for a one-off evening)? We'll tell you everything.

The holiday season is fast approaching, and with it comes the desire for glowing skin to shine under the spotlights of the evenings. Between the shimmering lights, the photos that immortalize these moments and the winter conditions, giving your skin special attention at this time of year is the key to radiating. Here are all the essential tips for a beauty routine during the holidays, guaranteeing a luminous complexion and healthy skin, which you can also apply all year long.

Plan a foolproof beauty routine

It's a fact: a solid beauty routine is the cornerstone of radiant skin. Start with a double cleanse (especially in the evening) to remove impurities, makeup and dead cells accumulated during the day. Above all, opt for a gentle cleanser that respects the natural balance of your skin type.

1. Cleaning, morning and evening?

Cleansing is the first crucial step for beautiful skin, but be careful not to overdo it. In the morning, your skin does not need to be cleansed; after the night, you can simply spray it with water (which also has the advantage of waking you up) or soak it in a tonic lotion (floral water is a very good alternative) before moving on to the next steps of your routine.

In the evening, however, cleansing is essential in order to remove makeup, dust, pollution and all kinds of residues anchored on the skin during the day. To do this, use a gentle cleanser adapted to your skin type. If you live in a highly polluted area (an urban area like Paris), do not hesitate to practice double cleansing which will eliminate impurities from the skin in depth. Always make sure not to attack the skin and to respect its natural balance.

2. Toning to rebalance the skin

After evening cleansing, or simply before your morning routine, always apply a toner that is suitable for your skin. This product removes cleanser residue, rebalances the skin's pH and prepares it to absorb the next treatments.

3. Specific care for the eye area

The eye area is delicate and requires special attention. Use a specific treatment for this fragile area to reduce the appearance of dark circles, puffiness and fine lines. Apply the eye contour serum by tapping and not rubbing, the area under the eyes is a very fragile area.

4. A serum to treat specific problems

Serums that are concentrated in active ingredients are perfect for targeting specific concerns such as hydration, radiance, pigment spots or wrinkles. Choose one that suits your needs.

5. Hydration adapted to your skin type

Hydration is crucial for all skin types. Choose a moisturizing day cream and night cream that are suited to your skin type (very rich for dry skin and light for oily skin), making sure to cover your face, neck and décolleté well.

6. Sun protection, even in winter

Don’t forget sun protection. Even during the winter months, UV rays can be damaging to your skin. If you’re worried about skipping this step, opt for a moisturizer or foundation with built-in SPF.

7. Weekly exfoliation

Once or twice a week, exfoliate your skin to remove dead cells and reveal a luminous complexion. Choose an exfoliator that is suited to your skin type to avoid irritation.

8. Masks and Intensive Care

Incorporate masks or intensive treatments once or twice a week to nourish, hydrate or treat specific skin concerns.

9. Good internal hydration and a balanced diet

Remember that internal hydration is just as (if not more) important than external hydration. Drink enough water and eat a balanced diet rich in nutrients for radiant skin and most of the work will be done.

10. A good night's rest

Nighttime is a crucial time for skin regeneration. Be sure not to go to bed too late (before the holidays), and apply all the steps of this beauty routine to hydrate and repair your skin while you sleep.

Include facial massage in your beauty routine

This is a step that we don't think about (enough) automatically yet. However, facial massage has the power to increase the effects of our treatments and give our skin a well-deserved new glow. Here's why incorporating it into your routine is more than beneficial during this festive period:

1. Improved blood circulation

The circular or linear movements involved in facial massage stimulate blood circulation, promoting the delivery of nutrients and oxygen to skin cells. This can help revitalize and tone the skin.

2. Reduced stress and muscle tension

Accumulated tension in the facial muscles can lead to a tired or tense appearance. Facial massage helps release this tension, reducing stress and providing a feeling of relaxation.

3. Stimulation of collagen production

Certain massage movements can help stimulate collagen production, promoting skin firmness and elasticity. This can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

4. Detoxification and elimination of toxins

Facial massage can help drain toxins accumulated in the skin, promoting a clearer complexion and brighter skin.

5. Improved absorption of skin care products

By massaging your face after applying the various treatments, you promote their penetration by helping to better distribute the active ingredients and make them penetrate deeply.

6. Reduction of Water Retention

Certain types of facial massage, such as lymphatic drainage, can help reduce water retention, thereby decreasing puffiness and bags under the eyes.

7. Promotion of General Welfare

In addition to the skin benefits, facial massage can be a calming experience, promoting a better connection with your body and a feeling of overall well-being.

By customizing these steps to your individual needs and staying consistent, you can maintain healthy, glowing, and radiant skin day after day, during and after the excesses of the holiday season.
