10 Homemade Tips for Beautiful Skin in Summer

10 Homemade Tips for Beautiful Skin in Summer

Coralie Techer

During the summer, the skin requires special care and attention. To change your usual routines, discover 10 totally doable tips at home, gentle and natural to take care of your skin. Tested and approved!

1 - For cleansed skin

Once a month at least or once a week if you have time, exfoliate your body for soft and shiny skin. Exfoliation removes dead skin from the surface layer of the epidermis. This regular cleansing renews the skin, unclogs pores and activates blood circulation. In summer, it even helps you keep your tan to the max!

  • The right recipe : mix one tbsp of coffee grounds, one tbsp of fine sugar, one tbsp of liquid honey. Apply delicately to the skin then massage in circular motions vigorously (but without insisting) to remove dead cells. Finish with the application of a soothing moisturizer.

2 - For hydrated skin

We can never say it enough, healthy skin is well-hydrated skin. In summer, we rely on aloe vera gel known for its moisturizing, healing and soothing properties! The ideal is to remove the gel directly from the plant. The aloe vera plant can easily grow in a pot, if it is treated well! Otherwise, its organic and 100% natural gel can be easily found in the brands Lulu & Guite, Aroma Zone or PurAloé.

  • How to do it directly from the plant? Open a leaf (carefully cut on the plant), wash off the excess oil that comes out, scrape off the gelatinous substance. It can be stored in the freezer.
  • How to use it? Aloe vera can be used as a mask or night cream, pure aloe vera gel is also effective against sunburn, pimples, scars or insect bites. The ideal asset for summer.

3 - For blemish-free skin

If you are spending your holidays by the sea, then this tip is clearly for you. Did you know that sea water is excellent for cleaning the skin of its impurities and drying out spots? Rich in various minerals and trace elements, this naturally salty water can be compared to a physiological serum. Its benefits are clearly approved by the world of cosmetics which does not hesitate to compose many treatments with it.

  • What are the benefits for the skin? exfoliated skin (thanks to the salt in the water), hydrated, healed skin, protected from bacteria (seawater is often recommended as an acne treatment), balances the pH of the skin and reduces inflammation. So, a good swim for an hour and there you have it, those nasty imperfections ready to say bye bye. The perfect excuse to chill out all summer on the beach.

4 - For preserved armpits

In summer, shaving and repeated hair removal can weaken the armpits, which are a very delicate part of the body. To avoid any inconvenience, we rely on a deodorant that cares! Effective, gentle and environmentally friendly, we concoct it at home.

  • The recipe: Mix 60g of baking soda (anti-odor), 40g of arrowroot, 100g of coconut oil (softener) and 10 drops of essential oil of your choice (perfume). Let the preparation firm up. It's ready!

5 - To reduce the appearance of stretch marks

The oil moisturizes, cleanses but above all heals by nourishing the skin. It is the natural and perfect miracle treatment when you are looking to fade your stretch marks. These fine streaks that appear following a rupture of the collagen fibers within the dermis are generally not very appreciated and it is normal to want to camouflage them (just as it is normal to want to totally accept them!).

  • How to do it? To fade them (they will never disappear completely if they are already white and well established), we accelerate the healing of the skin by moisturizing it as much as possible. Twice a day! Rosehip oil, avocado oil, argan oil or calophyllum oil are known to be very effective.

6 - To eliminate blackheads

In summer, we like to avoid smearing foundation on our faces as much as possible. It's hot, it's dripping and it increases imperfections! So for beautiful skin without makeup, we may want to get rid of blackheads. There are several methods that are more or less natural, controversial or painful. Here, we simply use lemon! An antioxidant, this citrus fruit purifies and cleanses the skin.

  • How to do it? Apply in the evening before going to sleep and on cleansed skin. Squeeze a whole lemon. With a clean brush, spread it on the area to be treated to eliminate blackheads. Leave on for 1 to 2 minutes then rinse. Repeat the operation every evening for a week.

7 - For reduced dark circles

Dark circles are the result of a hectic lifestyle or simply a genetic inheritance. If makeup does a good job of camouflaging them on the surface  we would just as soon not have to resort to tricks to get rid of them! Incredible but true, it is towards the potato that we can turn to say goodbye to dark circles. This starch contains a whitening agent that reduces the coloring of the skin by reducing the blue or brown appearance of these marks.

  • How to do it? Simply mash a good potato until you get a puree. Spread the puree on the dark circled area. Leave it on for about 15 minutes.

8 - For soft lips

Even in summer, you can suffer from chapped lips. Dehydration, sunburn, smoking... Many factors come into play! For soft, rosy lips, you can fortunately count on shea butter (but also good hydration, at a rate of at least one liter per day).

  • How to do it? Every night, before going to sleep, spread a delicate dab of shea butter (extremely moisturizing and nourishing) on problem lips. When you wake up, your lips will be soft and plumped up.

9 - To reduce redness

Redness, like chapped lips, is not an indelicacy exclusive to winter. In summer we can also have them and want to get rid of them or at least fade them! Turmeric, which you may already have in your kitchen as a decorative spice, is a powerful anti-inflammatory. In addition to being excellent for health, it can also help against skin problems.

  • How to do it? Make sure that the turmeric is organic and as natural as possible (turmeric produced on Reunion Island, for example, is a guarantee of quality). Mix a tablespoon of turmeric with a tablespoon of coconut oil (cold-pressed, 100% natural). Knead and apply the resulting paste to the redness. Leave on for about 10 minutes. The redness is reduced! ( Warning, not recommended for very sensitive skin .)

10 - For nourished and refreshed skin

For nourished and refreshed skin, we say yes to cucumber!! More precisely to milk and cucumber. The latter moisturizes dry skin and restores radiance to dull complexions. Combined with milk (even a vegetable milk) it works wonders.

  • The recipe: mix a quarter of a peeled cucumber, a tbsp of honey and 25cl of unsweetened organic almond milk. Refrigerate, and there you have a natural nourishing milk to use every evening for the skin.
